Time to Catch Up
Well I’ve been home for over a week already and haven’t even made my first post! Time to play some catch up.
So just in case you haven’t read the “About” section, I just moved back to Baltimore from spending a year in Southern California. If you are wondering what got into my head, go read the “About” section. I’m not as crazy as you think. Anyway, I got back Thursday, July 3rd 2008. That night I saw a bunch of my friends whom I had dearly missed and only seen once in the past year (I made a trip home for Christmas/New Years over the winter). The next day, Friday, was a crucial turning point in my life. I quickly found out that day that the very reason I moved home was all for nothing. Well, not nothing, but… well I’ll leave it at that.
I spent the majority of the weekend working on my animation for school (I go to an online animation school called AnimationMentor.com). It’s been hectic trying to make it to class (online with a webcam) and watch my lectures (find a wireless connection) and do my assignments when I’m living on friends’ couches. I don’t have my own workstation to do my work, so it’s hard to be fully productive.
Tuesday, I went back to the Eastern Shore to see my parents. It was really good seeing them after such a long time away from home, and to have a chance to talk with them. They helped me resolve some issues with my current situation, as well as help me just be OK with being home again. Readjusting to the hot, muggy, Maryland summers after a year in beautiful San Diego has been far from easy, but I’m working on it.
I missed my cat a lot when I was gone. I got to see and pet him on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday morning my Mom called me to tell me he had died. Linus was 16 years old and an awesome cat. I’m glad he waited to see me just one more time before he passed. He wasn’t sick or having any problems – he just curled up in a ball and his heart stopped beating.
Life has been throwing me some hardballs recently, but I’m learning to deal and just trying to make the most of my time home.
Thursday I hung out with my ex-girlfriend Holly. We hadn’t seen each other in almost 5 years, and it was definitely good to see her again. I drove to Dover, DE to spend the day with her. We had both changed so much, but were still just the same.
That night I came home and buried my cat. I dug a hole in my Mom’s back yard and we sent him on his way. I’m just happy I got to see him again.
